  • Comment: I bought one of the RDXV59DTKB units on the recommendation of a friend. Mine does work fine - does what it says on the tin. Then my friend had a problem with his, inside the warranty period and Toshiba fixed it. Knowing my warranty period was coming to an end I approached Toshiba to buy an extended warranty but they do not do them! So if I have the same issue - not being able to record, then it's potentially a £200+ piece of electrical detritus (for want of a better word). When Toshiba wrote to me, they did not even offer details of a certifed repairer. Of course it hasn't gone wrong (yet) but be aware of this.

  • Comment: This has proved to be exactly what we needed to reduce our video tape collection to DVD. I can also play recordings to DVD on the computer. The instructions are clear and precise and have had no problems with setting up and using.

  • Comment: This product arrived in very good condition and was easy to setup. Picture quality on Video, DVD and Freeview is very good. The remote control has good selection of features with reasonable sized buttons. Start up time from mains power on is very quick (certainly compared to my previous Panasonic Video/DVD Combi machine). It does playback DVD-RAM disks recorded on a Panasonic recorder. Overall I am very happy with this purchase so far.

    However, there are a few points for potential purchasers to note:
    1. The front panel display is quite small so cannot easily be viewed from a distance.
    2. The remote control needs to be aimed at the machine in order to guarantee that commands are accepted.
    3. After watching a Video be sure to select DVD as the playback source, as otherwise the Freeview picture quality is slightly impaired.
    4. The cooling fan is an external unit bolted onto the back of the main machine - hence one needs to allow enough space for air to circulate around it.
